Clam Diggers Seafood

The food, drinks and atmosphere were wonderful. The portions were more than we could eat. The food had the most magnificent flavor hats off to the chef. The menu looked so delicious we had a hard time deciding. The waitress was extremely friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and planned to return.

I got the half pound fresh sea scallops. Beautifully pan seared and seasoned to perfection. The crab legs are the best in the central Virginia area.

Slice of the Shore in this "Inland Harbor" tiny Restaurant and Pub !!! Cassidy was a fantastic waitress and all the staff stopped by to check and make sure you didn't need anything !!! The food was prepared fairly quickly even though they were very busy !!!! And it was nice and hot !!! Still want to taste the "Manhattan Clam Chowder" someday !! I had a plate of clams and medium hot wings. My wife had Salmon and coleslaw. Set in picturesque Bedford VA (Near Roanoke and Lynchburg VA) Bedford is home to the world renowned "National DDay Memorial" honoring the 19 boys who lost their lives in Normandy, France 1944 who were all from this little town. Nearby is the 4,000' tall Peaks of Otter !!! Great views all around the town. People who are travelling and want a great place to have an adult beverage and seafood after hiking the Peaks of Otter, or seeing the DDay Memorial, or even visiting in near Forest, VA "Poplar Forest", the villa/retreat octagonal home of our third President Thomas Jefferson, may want to stop here at "Clam Diggers" and get some seafood !!!! Steamed shrimp, Alaskan crab legs, scallops and the like !!! The pub and the whole place was full of seafood lovers and Friday night revelers !!! We'll come back and they even have music sometimes !!! Check this place out !!!! Update February 16, 2024.

I advise everyone who has a taste for Seafood of any kind to visit Clam Diggers but double dipping with the huge shrimp cocktail is a given

The food is good! I got the flounder sandwich. It was delicious! The only issue I had was closing the sandwich because of the fish. So maybe if it’s cut in there or maybe getting a wider loaf of bread, would make this meal a little simpler to eat. The hush puppies were some of the best I’ve ever had. The banana pudding was nothing special, but it was delicious. Overall, I would definitely come back!

Stopped in for lunch. Had the shrimp corn chowder, a garden salad and crab cake sandwich. Delicious!

We started with the spicy crab dip and a side of hush puppies. We expected something like you get at the big chain Seafood restaurants, 90% cheese and some crab. This was crab. Yes, crab with some cayenne for spice. Wow! Was that a pleasant surprise. Very tasty. The hush puppies were fresh and hot from the fryer with butter. The texture and taste were considerably better than expected. We then ordered the scallop dinner and the crab cake dinner. The scallops were tender, hot, and properly seared with a wonderful texture. The crab cakes were piping hot and held their shape despite having very little binder. The decor is as one would expect of a Seafood restaurant with comfy booths and enough table space so as to not be overcrowded with plates The wait staff were pleasant and attentive.
